I’ve been making music for most of my life. Two albums, three EPs, hundreds of gigs, and a career that has moved between Dublin and London and taken me to play in all kinds of interesting places around the world.
Twenty Twenty Fiction went top 20 in Ireland in 2005. Simple Truth followed in 2008. Along the way I’ve written and produced music for Tourism Ireland campaigns, and curated and run hundreds of live shows.
My songwriting sits in the rootsy, folky end of things. Songs with a heart, and a pop sensibility underneath.
Live is something else again. I’m drawn to the magic of looping, building songs up layer by layer in front of an audience.
It was at one of my gigs in the early 2000s that a teenage Ed Sheeran first saw a loop pedal being used live. He came up after the show, asked for a lesson, and as he has said himself, the rest is history.
A few years ago I stepped back from touring and releasing to raise two musical boys. I didn’t stop writing, I just stopped sharing. The songs kept arriving.
Now I’m back at it. A new EP is on the way, recorded at my home studio in Dublin, and there’s plenty more where that came from.
